Introduction

A coffee shop near Kyoto Kawaramachi Station.

The menu included a description of the shop.

Opened in 1948.

They apparently never played background music since opening.

In Kyoto’s Kawaramachi district, lined with old buildings, this is one of the oldest coffee shops still operating.

I promptly ordered their famous jelly punch with ice cream.

I enjoyed the soda while scooping up the jelly.

The soda has a perfect sweetness.

While not overly sweet, its subtle sweetness and the slight lingering carbonation on the tongue create a unique taste entirely different from plain sparkling water.

The jelly has a firm texture with a slightly stronger gelatin feel. There’s quite a lot of it, so I scooped each piece one by one and ate it with satisfying bites.

This is addictive.
And above all, it looks beautiful.
A captivating, mysterious charm.

The interior is also distinctive, with no background music.

This creates a quiet, mysterious atmosphere that enhances the ambiance even more.

It’s a popular spot, so it might be crowded at peak times.

However, when I visited around 4 PM, it was empty, so it depends on the time and circumstances.

The interior retains its old-fashioned design with small furniture and a compact space, so be aware of that.

The carbonation comes from locally produced Kobe soda.
